LENT STUDY--CULTIVATING FRUITFULNESS

5 WEEK STUDY AND SERMON SERIES FOR LENT: Join us for devotional study and prayer on the booklet: "Cultivating Fruitfulness," authored by Bishop Robert Schnase of the Missouri Conference, UMC.
Group meetings are:
  • Wed., 11:00 a.m., in the TUMC lounge, beginning Feb 17.m
  • Monday meeting is 6:30 p.m. at the parsonage beginning Feb 21.
  • Books are available for $7. Call the office or the pastor.

HAITI RELIEF

DONATIONS--CHECKS may be given through our church. They should be made out to TOLONO UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, and on the memo line write HAITI RELIEF #418325, a program of UMCOR (UM Committee on Relief). Donations may be received in the offering on Sunday mornings or in the church office Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Call 217-485-3610 for information. Know that 100% goes to Haiti Relief--no administrative costs, fees or deductions.

First Sunday of the month is breakfast Sunday, come 30 minutes early!

Worship Service 10:30 AM Sundays--informal and friendly. We just started using AV projection in our blended service. Volunteers to contribute their skills in a media team are needed!Youth can run the computer-projector!

Holy Communion:
The Sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday monthly, Christmas Eve, Maundy (Holy) Thursday, and other special occasions. The United Methodist Church practices open communion for all Christian believers, and receiving the Body of Christ is a personal choice according to one's own relationship to Jesus.

SUNDAY SERMON

March 21: "Extravagant Generosity"--what the "G" word really means.
March 14: "Risk-Taking Mission and Service"--what, where, who?
March 7: "Intentional Faith Development"--being serious about a growing faith.

February 28: "Passionate Worship: What are we doing here?" Psalm 84. What is beautiful about worship? What's the point? Why are you worshiping?

February 21: Bible reading is Romans 10:8-15. Entitled, "Anyone, Anywhere," the sermon talks about "Radical Hospitality" in God and the church.

February 14, Guest preacher, Rev. Dr. Paul Unger, brought the message.

February 7, Bible reading is Isaiah 6:1-13. The title is "I Saw God." Isaiah sees God in his holy Temple and becomes the prophet with a message to his people and their leaders.

Sermons during Lent will follow the study topics: Radical Hospitality, Passionate Worship, Intentional Faith Development, Risk-Taking Mission and Service, and Extravagant Generosity. SANCTUARY MEDIA: The projection system is up and running thanks to members at each church—Phil Nixon, Mary Cummings and Steve Bickers at Pesotum, and TUMC’s Jeff Kramer, Dale Rascher and Paul Noerenberg. Anyone who can work with PowerPoint can help. We need you!

COMMITTEES: Our church committees are in action for the new year, but there are openings for more volunteers. If you would consider volunteering for planning events and implementing ministries please call the church office.

Our church is located in Tolono, IL. Take route 45 to Tolono, at the stop light turn East. At the second block/stop sign, turn left onto Bourne St. (See Busey Bank on the corner). Then go one block North to the church on the left. Corner of Bourne & Reynolds Streets.
